add condition around existing steps in Dynamics CRM 2011 workflow designer

I have gone through the 'Building Workflows with Dynamics CRM 2011 Web Designer' Lab from the SDK, and have built the workflow that sends emails to customers depending on whether they have visited the Gym in the last 7 days. That's working as expected.

A further exercise I decided to add in a condition to only send the email if the customer has opted to receive marketing communication (this field is provided in the person entity)

So, I went into the workflow editor to add a condition around the steps that send the email - failed miserably...

What i want to be able to do is:

1) select some exiting steps, and enclose them in a new condition.

OR

2) insert a new condition, then move exiting steps into it

I cant see how to do either.

I know that I can do it by making the new condition and recreating the logic inside it, and for this simple example that wouldn't be too bad, but I wouldn't want to do it if I had spent ages building complex workflow. And I can see that modularising the workflow would help.

Any suggestions on how to avoid rebuilding steps, with the risk of mistakes that that brings?
